Hair Transplant at JJ Aesthetics

What is Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplant is a minimally invasive hair restoration procedure in which the surgeon transfers hair to the bald patch of the scalp. The surgeon usually takes hair from the back or the side of the head and implants them to the top or front of the scalp where there are generally fewest to no hair present. The process is carried out under local anaesthesia to minimise procedure pain.

Hair transplantation, being a doctor hair fall solution Pakistan, is commonly used to treat receding hairline, thinning of hair and baldness to achieve natural aesthetic look and permanent results. According to global hair restoration statistics, more than 7 million hair transplants are performed annually which highlight its growing popularity all over the world.

Hair Transplant Before and After Results

Usually it takes 3 to 4 months to develop new hair which reaches their full growth within 8 to 12 months. The transplanted hair keeps growing naturally. We take pride in providing the best hair transplant in Pakistan with a graft survival rate of over 85% , resulting in high patient satisfaction.

Hairline Transplant

Hairline transplant is one of the most common forms of hair transplant which addresses the restoration or enhancement of an already receded hairline. As male pattern baldness starts from the loss of hair from the front, hairline transplant is specifically designed to restore natural and youthful appearance. This is also called hairline restoration or forehead size reduction. Our  experienced surgeons at JJ Aesthetics utilise innovative mapping techniques to create hair lines tailored to each patient’s unique facial structure, age and preferences keeping in mind the natural results.

Long Hair Transplantation

This technique can be performed using FUT/FUSS, FUE and DHI technique. In this procedure we do not trim the hair rather extract the hair as it is and implant the full length hair. The benefit of this technique is it gives you a final look immediately after the hair transplant, that is how you are going to look after hair transplant results. But this is a temporary illusion as the transplanted hair will shed in a few days and will grow back later on. This technique is recommended for the candidates who need less number of grafts, as it is a time taking procedure.

Types of hair transplant

Hair transplants are classified into different types based on the specific technique being used. At JJ aesthetics, we offer the best hair restoration using following transplantation techniques:

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)/Follicular Unit Strip Surgery (FUSS)

It is still a prescribed procedure. It is recommended for patients who want to go for hair transplant in early ages ( below 25), also recommended in females and for those who want to go for an unshaven hair transplant. In this method, a thin strip of hair from the donor area of your scalp (where hair density is relatively high, typically on the back or sides of the scalp) is removed. Individual follicular units are dissected from this strip and then implanted into the recipient site (bald patch). At JJ Aesthetics, we use advanced techniques to minimise the risk of scarring. A single session of FUT/FUSS can yield up to 3000 to 4,000 grafts.

Risk Factors

  • You have to bear a linear scar that would be permanent and may be visible in short hairs.
  • Your scarline will remain stitched for 10 to 14 days, they will be removed on the 14th day usually.
  • As compared to FUE, chances of infection are higher in FUT/FUSS.
  • FUT/FUSS takes more time to recover than FUE.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

This technique involves direct extraction of individual hair follicles from the donor site with the use of a micro punch tool. There are chances of tiny but quite invisible scars. However these scars recover quickly. FUE is the most suitable technique for patients who need smaller graft volumes or prefer short hairstyles. A single session of FUE commonly involves 4000 to 5000 grafts.

Advantages of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Technique

  • You have more precise angles and directions.
  • Less kinking of implanted hairs.
  • Less scaling on the recipient site.
  • Early recovery.
  • More preferred way of implantation in unshaven hair transplant and long hair transplantation.

Combination technique of FUT and FUE

This technique is used to combine the benefits of both FUT and FUE. Initially, around 3000 to 5000 grafts are harvested using FUT method then remaining 1500 grafts are extracted using FUE technique. Collectively around 4000 grafts are yielded in a single session which gives an advanced hair loss solution.

Along with usage of the last number of grafts this technique spares room for future procedures if required. Moreover, since fewer grafts are taken via FUE; they can be extracted with a wider spacing, minimising the risk of damage and promising better survival of grafts.

Direct Hair Implantation (DHI)

DHI is a latest version of FUE, in which an implanter pen/injector is used to directly implant hair follicles to the recipient site. We are using Choi pen. The chances of graft survival are higher as the follicle is less traumatised during implantation which helps to achieve excellent precision. DHI is ideal for treating small areas or creating detailed headlines.

Ideal Age for a Hair Transplant

There is no age limit fixed for a hair transplant. It is usually recommended around 24 years and above. But if your donor area is healthy there is no maximum age limit for it. This is because hair loss patterns become more predictable after this age, allowing for better planning and long-term results. If a transplant is done too early, the patient may continue to lose hair in other areas, leading to an unnatural appearance. Additionally, younger individuals often have an unstable donor area, which can lead to overharvesting and poor future coverage. While there are exceptions for those with medical conditions or severe hair loss, it is generally recommended to wait until hair loss stabilizes before undergoing the procedure. Consulting with a hair restoration specialist can help determine the best time for a transplant based on individual needs.

Who might benefit from a hair transplant?

Consider visiting a hair transplantation clinic if:

  • Common cause is androgenetic alopecia
  • You have male or female pattern baldness
  • Thinning hair specially receding hairline
  • Suffering from immense hair loss after injury or burn
  • Traction alopecia in women caused by tight hairstyles
  • Inefficacy of medical treatment such as minoxidil or finasteride for hair loss

How is the procedure carried out at JJ Aesthetics?

Clinical consultation

The doctor examines the type of hair loss, its extent, health of donor site and devises the best technique befitting your concerns. The doctor also explains his surgical plan, risks, benefits and all the necessary details regarding the procedure. We also do trichoscopy if needed.

Labs

Your labs are performed by our in-house lab assistant.

Hairline Design

Clients’ hairline is designed by our expert doctors.

Headshave

Preparation

Then the patient is taken to the procedure room and is briefed about the sterilisation process and all the disposable items are opened in front of him. Then his head area is scrubbed and draped using the antiseptics. The donor and recipient sites are marked and local anaesthesia is done by the doctor to numb the area. We use the smallest needles to minimize the pain. This is the only part that involves minimal pain, the rest of the procedure is pain free. It hardly takes 4 to 5 minutes.

Slits/Sites/Holes Making

These are made by the doctors using the high end sapphire blades that is also called Sapphire FUE or custom size surgical blades can be used for this step. This is the most major step of the surgery as your angles, directions and density are fixed by the doctor in this step and further surgical team follow the same plan.

PRP

Prp is performed by the doctor so that the extracted grafts can be stored in it.

Extraction

Healthy hair follicles are extracted from the back and sides of the head using FUT/FUSS or FUE technique. This step is started by the doctor and completed by the surgical assistants.

Implantation

The follicles are carefully implanted into the recipient site considering the natural hair growth direction and density using the DHI technique. This is the most lengthy procedure and it is performed by surgical assistants. This step is quite simple yet time taking. 3 to 4 surgical assistants are involved in this step that work under the doctor’s supervision.

Headwash

It is recommended for the patient to visit us on the 3rd day for his follow up/ first headwash. But if he cannot, we share an online head wash tutorial with him and he can share pictures with us via whatsapp for the initial 10 days.
